We strongly recommend adding excursions to your tour by the specific reservation deadline or up to 3 days before departure. Here are a few reasons why it’s important:
- Availability: Some excursions must be added in advance and cannot be added while on tour. Specific deadlines can be found when viewing an excursion description on our website or your day-by-day itinerary.
- Enrollment: Excursions must reach a minimum enrollment of travelers to run on tour. While Tour Directors will try to sell excursions on tour, some may be canceled before departure if the minimum enrollment number hasn't been met. By adding excursions early, we can confirm the number of travelers sooner, avoiding the need for late cancellations.
- Savings: If you add an optional excursion after your tour begins, an additional charge of $10 per person, per excursion will be added to the price. Lock in the lowest price by reserving excursions before departure.

Adding excursions while on tour in the EF Adventures mobile app
Excursions added once you arrive on tour will incur an additional $10 fee per person per excursion. (Follow these instructions for adding excursions in the mobile app.) All excursions added to the tour must be paid for at the time of reservation using a credit or debit card (MasterCard or Visa) or your bank account's routing and account numbers.
Don't have a smartphone? Please consider adding excursions before your departure. If this isn't possible, your Tour Director can review alternative payment options with you during the tour.
Keep your Tour Director in the loop!
When booking an excursion after the start of your tour, you must let your Tour Director know if you’re interested in adding the excursions so that they can confirm availability before purchasing. If you add an excursion in the app while on tour without consulting with your Tour Director, it may not be possible to join the excursion if the deadline has passed and/or we can't confirm additional spots.
Tour Director excursions
On some tours, Tour Directors organize what are known as "Tour Director excursions." These excursions can't be added from the mobile app since they're offered at the Tour Director's discretion. Tour Director excursions should be paid for in cash directly to your Tour Director in the local currency. The process for signing up for these can vary, so your Tour Director can provide more information if they are available on your tour.
