As you prepare for your upcoming tour, we want to ensure you’re fully prepared for your return to the United States. Please note that entry requirements are always subject to change. For the most current and accurate information, we recommend checking the US Department of State website as well as the US Customs and Border Protection homepage.
Below are some helpful reminders for a smooth return home.
For all travelers
Required documentation
All travelers should carry the following with them when re-entering the United States:
- A valid passport (U.S. or otherwise) with at least 6 months validity beyond your return date
- Any supporting travel documentation (e.g., visas, green cards, or re-entry permits)
- Emergency contact information
Customs and Border Control
The Customs and Border Control Protection (CBP) officers are authorized to ask you questions about your trip and your personal background, including:
- Your citizenship
- The nature of your trip
- Anything you are bringing back to the United States that you did not have when you left
Please note: All travelers crossing the United States border are subject to CBP inspection. On rare occasions, this may include the search of a traveler’s mobile phone, computer, camera, or other electronic devices. For more information, please visit: Border Search of Electronic Devices at Ports of Entry.
For U.S. citizens traveling with a U.S. passport
U.S. citizens re-entering the United States typically do not experience issues at the border, but we always recommend traveling with all necessary documentation.
To learn more, visit U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s website: What to Expect When You Return.
For permanent residents and visa holders
Permanent residents (green card holders) and those traveling on visas should review the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ guidance on international travel, including what documentation is required and what to do if a green card is lost or stolen:
For legal or immigration-related questions, we recommend that travelers consult directly with an immigration attorney prior to departure.
Please note: While we're here to support you before and during your tour, it is each traveler's responsibility to meet and comply with all government and entry requirements for returning to the United States. We encourage you to review the resources above and reach out to the appropriate authorities if you have specific questions about your documentation or eligibility.
