Many travelers wonder whether they need to join every included activity on tour. While we encourage participation, we also understand that every traveler’s ideal experience looks a little different.
Can I skip included activities?
Your EF Adventures itinerary is designed to offer a balance of guided experiences and free time. If your tour includes a hike, ride, activity or excursion but you’d prefer to explore independently during that time, that’s absolutely okay. Simply let your Tour Director know in advance and be sure to rejoin the group in time for any scheduled transfers between cities or countries.
Note: In some destinations, local travel guidelines or safety considerations may limit the amount of free time available. Your Tour Director will always be your best resource for understanding what’s possible and making informed decisions during your trip.
*Keep in mind it may be diffifcult to do so on a transfer day meaning you are not returning to the hotel but going to a new one at the end of the activity. For exmaple if you are on a biking tour you have the option to ride along in the van if you choose!
Arrival day activities
We strongly recommend attending your group’s welcome meeting and welcome meal, typically held on the evening of your arrival. These events are a great way to meet your fellow travelers, review important tour information, and start building connections from day one. The welcome meeting often includes a drink and is typically followed by a group dinner (or sometimes lunch), where you’ll have a chance to get to know your Tour Director and tourmates in a relaxed setting.
If you’re unable to attend the welcome meeting or meal, please inform your Tour Director ahead of time so they can ensure you have the information you need.
Next steps:
- Let your Tour Director know if you plan to skip any included activities.
- Plan to attend the welcome meeting and meal on arrival day.
- Reach out to your Tour Director with any questions about free time or local guidelines.
